  1. I think it’s easy to forget how pervasive this sort of affliction is in today’s society. Also, it’s easy to underestimate how hard it is to be open and public about information like this, which can deeply impact every aspect of a person’s life.

    Good on Darrell Hammond for discussing his journey – and good on him for overcoming so much. More people talking frankly about mental health issues will only help our society to break down the stigmas.

  2. I was shocked when I heard about his book and the secrets he shared. What I had initially heard about was the alcohol and drug abuse and his problems with cutting. Only getting that small part of the story made it seem like his time at SNL was more harmful than helpful. It’s great to read that they were so helpful and worked with him in his attempts to get help. I’m interested in reading it.

    1. I never liked his Clinton impression. I couldn’t stand it. I ended up drinking a lot during his years at SNL, too.
